Know Your Family History

Family members share genes, behaviours, and lifestyles that influence their risk of developing a disease such as cancer. It is important to know your family’s medical history and be aware of your family members who have had any kind of disease. This can help you and your health care provider assess your cancer risk. If cancer is common in your family, you may be eligible for a different screening test, or screening at an earlier age.
